Planting Instructions Plant Clyde Redmond Iris in large containers with rhizomes 3 inches beneath the surface of the water or in moist, sunny locations in your bog area or in a sunny border of your flower garden. Bloom time is late spring or early summer, depending on your zone. Iris plants help to filter your pond water as their roots take up the extra nutrients in the pond, helping to reduce algae growth. Iris also help control bank erosion on stream beds, lakes and ponds.
