Deacon DeGarmeaux Lotus is a beautiful rosy-red lotus that stands 3 - 4 feet tall from the surface of the water. The flowers and foliage are beautiful and robust. The flower is quite large and single petaled with handsome, bright yellow seed pods. The emerald-green lotus leaves are very large. The Deacon DeGarmeaux lotus was named for a precious little boy who died much too soon. (4-30-08 to 3-21-11) All proceeds from this lotus go to children's charities around the world.
Plant in large, wide shallow containers using heavy loam soil. Keep growth tips exposed and add 6" of water above the soil. Coin leaves will float on the water's surface in a week or two. Do not fertilize until you have aerial leaves growing out of the water. Fertilize monthly. Great for shallow areas of the pond or in tubs and containers for a fabulous focal point. We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs for all of our pond plans. Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs will give your aquatic plants vigorous growth and best bloom all season long.
