Plant in heavily composted, moist, loam soil in your flower garden, in full sun to part shade. The tops of the rhizomes should be even with the surface of the soil in your terrestrial garden, with a 1/2 inch of soil above the rhizomes. Keep soil evenly moist, especially during dry spells.
Deep Rose Iris Versicolor also looks great when planted in containers and placed in the pond! Using fabric planting containers, fill containers 2/3 full with heavy, loam soil (skip the composted material for the pond) and plant the Deep Rose Iris Versicolor in the soil and place in the pond with an inch or two of water above the rhizomes. Plant in full sun to part shade, but iris do best in full sun. Fertilize throughout the growing season, June through August. We recommend a slow release fertilizer like Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs, for optimum growth, best bloom and ease of use! Simply press the fertilizer tabs into the soil in your fabric planting containers in the pond. The nutrients from the fertilizer will bind to the clay in the soil and will not leach out into the pond water. This makes the fertilizer available to your plants.
