Ellisiana Waterlily is a small to medium, hardy waterlily in dreamy shades of red. The stellate shaped flowers are 4 inches across. This is a free flowering specimen from Latour-Marliac. The pads are 4 - 5 inches across and are often edged in red. Enjoy bloom after incredible bloom on this heavy bloomer all summer long into fall. This is a great choice for container gardens, small ponds or medium ponds. Ellisiana adds beauty and color to your water garden setting.
Plant Ellisiana Hardy Waterlily in a wide, shallow container. Use loam soil and place the cut, non growing end of the waterlily against the side of the pot and cover the roots with soil. Make sure the crown of the plant is not covered in soil as it needs sunlight for the plant to grow. NEVER add rocks to the top of the pot as this hinders the growth of your waterlily. (Look on our home page for instructions on how to make loam soil.) Place your newly planted waterlily in full sun, in about 12 inches of water until it is established. Make sure the entire waterlily is beneath the surface of the water. Once your waterlily has taken root, you may lower your waterlily to 18 - 24 inches beneath the surface of the water.
Waterlilies are very heavy feeders. Fertilize your waterlily once a month with pond tabs throughout the growing/blooming season. Deadhead spent blooms as well as leaves that have yellowed. Cut the spent pads off--rather than pulling them off of the plant.
