Store lotus tuber in your refrigerator until proper planting time for your zone and after danger of frost has passed. Plant in wide, shallow container using heavy loam soil or aquatic planting medium. Plant tuber with growth tips exposed.Add 2 - 3 inches of water over the soil. Place container in full sun on deck or patio or shallow area of your pond. This lotus prefers shallow water. In a week or two, coin leaves will appear on the surface of the water.
DO NOT fertilize until aerial leaves are growing out of the water. Fertilize monthly with a slow release fertilizer like Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs. We recommend these fertilizer tabs because they keep your lotus and other pond plants in optimum condition for vigorous growth and best bloom.
