Jeannie's Smile Lotus is a magnificent tall, pink, single petal lotus named for a very special lady with a loving smile! This is a very tall lotus, growing 5 feet tall with 10 - 11 inch, luscious, pink blooms that are adorned with golden-yellow centers.
Grow this remarkable lotus in a 20 inch wide pot or wider, using aquatic planting medium or heavy loam soil. Put 5 - 6 inches of heavy loam soil in your container, dig a trench across the top of the soil and gently place your lotus tuber in the trench, making sure to keep the growth tips exposed. Gently add 4 inches of water above the soil and place your container in full sun on your deck, patio or shallow area of your pond. If the water becomes cloudy, gently pour out the cloudy water and add fresh water. In a week or so, you will have coin leaves on the surface of the water.
DO NOT fertilize until you have aerial leaves growing up and out of the water. Fertilize every three weeks with slow release fertilizer during the growing/blooming season.
We recommend a slow release fertilizer like Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs to keep your lotus, as well as other pond plants, looking their best!
