Pink Butterfly Flower (Milkweed) (Asclepias incarnata) is a delightful, perennial plant in the milkweed family that will attract butterflies, honey bees and hummingbirds to your water garden. Pink Butterfly Flower adds pretty shades of pink color amidst green foliage from summer until fall. This plant is important for butterflies as they lay their eggs on milkweed so that their larvae may feed off the plant when they hatch. This cold hardy plant overwinters in the pond or in moist soil in your terrestrial garden. Pink Butterfly Flower is also known as 'swamp milkweed'.

Sunlight Requirements   Full sun to part shade (does best in full sun)

Moisture Requirements   Moist soil or with an inch or two of water above the soil in the pond

Planting Instructions

Plant your Pink Butterfly Flower in containers using loam soil and place he pond with a couple of inches of water above the soil, in full sun to part shade. Pink Butterfly Flower blooms best in full sun but will tolerate part shade. Pink Butterfly Flower may also be planted in moist soil in your terrestrial garden.
