Star Grass (Dichromena Colorata)
Star Grass is actually a slowly spreading sedge that loves shallow water (up to 3 inches above the roots) or moist bog soil. Star Grass grows 12 - 18 inches tall in full sun to part shade. Slender, green grasses with star shaped, white flowers or bracts atop the stems in summer! Star Grass is also known as 'White Star Sedge' and is native to America, from the coast of Virginia to the Florida coast. Star Grass blooms throughout the summer months with white, star shaped bracts that look like tiny flowers atop the green, grass-like foliage. This plant does extremely well in wetlands and marshes and is great for naturalizing!
