Yellow Bird Lotus has rich, buttery-yellow 8 - 10 inch flowers that are a perfect complement to the dark green foliage. This is an exquisite specimen and a hybrid of the Native American lotus, Nelumbo Lutea. This spectacular lotus grows to 5' tall. Adds lots of sunshine wherever you place it!
Plant this specimen in heavy loam soil using a wide, shallow container 24 - 48 inches in diameter. Dig a trench across the top of the soil and place your lotus tuber in the trench, being careful not to break the growth tips. Keep the growth tips exposed. Add 4 - 6 inches of water above the soil and place the container in FULL SUN.(Lotus need 8 - 12 hours of sunlight daily.)
Fertilize AFTER you have aerial leaves growing out of the water. Fertilize every three weeks during the growing and blooming season with a slow release fertilizer or fertilizer tabs.
